Sickle Shield was created in response to a clear and persistent gap in sickle cell care. While healthcare has rapidly evolved through technology, improving how people manage conditions, access information, and connect with providers, sickle cell disease has often been left behind.
People living with sickle cell frequently face misunderstanding, fragmented care, limited access to timely information, and little support beyond moments of crisis. Tools designed around real patient experiences, proactive care, and mental well-being remain scarce.
Sickle Shield exists to change that.
It was built to provide protection through knowledge, advocacy, community, and technology-enabled support that enhances care rather than replaces it. The goal is to empower individuals to understand their health better, recognize warning signs early, and feel supported before challenges escalate.
